What is art in the service of social justice? Is an artist obligated to address the political? The public is invited to explore these issues on Friday, Nov. 18, at 3 pm, at New Haven Public Library, 133 Elm St.  Richard Klin and Lily Prince, authors of SomethingTo Say: Thoughts on Art and Politics in America, will present a talk entitled "A Great Faith in Human Beings: Howard Zinn and the Intersection of Art and Politics."

Richard Klin's writing has appeared in the FORWARD, BROOKLYN RAIL, THE BLOOMSBURYREVIEW, PARABOLA, and THE RAMBLER. Lily Prince, M.F.A., is Associate Professor of Art at William Paterson University. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, New York magazine, and many other national publications.

This presentation is a collaboration between Yale's Program in Public Humanities and the library, and refreshments will be served. For more information visit www.zinntalk.eventbrite.com or call the library at 203-946-8835.

We are not politicians, but citizens. We have no office to hold on to, only our consciences, which  insist on telling the truth.  —Howard Zinn
